Over 500 Species of Bacteria Live in the Plaque on Your Teeth
There are more than 500 species of bacteria making themselves at home in the plaque accumulating on your teeth throughout the day (and night). This is why we brush 2x day and floss at least 1x a day- disrupting the bacteria prevents attachment and cleans most of it away. If you aren't cleaning your whole tooth (even the parts you can't see) then you are at risk for developing gum disease and eventually tooth loss.
